SPINNAKER HALYARDS
I want to mount an internal spinnaker halyard on my 29-2. Should I use the second sheave for a genoa halyard or should a new mount and block be placed on the top of the mast? Any suggestions appreciated.

Jerry,-
You should mount a block external from the sheaves, usually a few inches up and forward of the sheaves. The spinnaker needs to twist and turn more than the 2nd genoa sheave will allow The pull from a spinnaker is not parallel to the fore stay like a genoa would be. It would lead to a jammed or broken halyard eventually.

Jerry,
If you want to see one already installed on a 29 Mark II, I'm in Maryland, just north of Baltimore. Only stipulation is you have to go up the mast to look.... :) (Or come by this winter when I come out and have the mast taken down....)
