Ideas about how to get the mildew off before I store them?? Woolite and a little bleach??? this is what's being recommended for dodgers/sunbrella... would it work for mildewed life preservers?? Do I dare do bleach???

I think scrubbing with diluted bleach (not a long soak, since that could attack plastic straps and buckles as well) should be fine. Eventually it would make them a bit less bright orange, but it is a great mildecide. Probably the safest "sure cure" for mildew. Woolite or maybe my favorite--Liquid Tide. That stuff is strong enough to pull dye from some fabrics if used straight, but it does clean well. And you're not going to be using it very often, we hope.
