GALLEY PUMP
The galley foot pump on my 1982 C&C 34 needs rebuild. It has a black case with an "M" imprinted on one side of the base and the letters "TCM" imprinted on the other. The valve bodies are at the 10 and 2 o'clock position. Whale does not believe it is one of theirs. Any ideas? Kits?

I have TMC pumps in my boat. I just replaced four of the O rings but haven't tested the pump to see whether that was all that was needed. The diaphragms were okay. The local West Marine store said that there are no retrofit kits available for TMC pumps. I'll reinstall the pump this weekend and let you know whether that did the trick.

TMC stands for Taiwan Magnetic Company and where the knock off to whale. You need a special screw driver to take them apart. Basically a slot with the middle part cut out.

Ala, Richard, &Walt,
Thanks for your replies. I did get the pump apart and found a tear in the diaphragm. When I called Whale they told me of foreign takeoffs of their pumps but wasn't familiar with the TCM brand. The chance of a rebuild kit is poor. I did look at a new pump but was put off by having to drill new holes and start over again. But that might be what I will have to do. Another project.
Thanks again, - Fred - C&C 34 WIND
