Owner's Review for the 1972 C&C 39

This is a very strong boat with great stability and excellent sailing characteristics. It is VERY fast .. daily distances averaging 125-150 miles. We cruised for 2 years (9000 miles with a family of 4) and lived aboard for 7 years. The design with dbl qtr berths is very suitable for families with children. Problems we fixed on our boat. 1)The original rudder was filled with water. I made a new one with higher aspect ratio that works very well. 2) Rudder post supports needed replacement due to water invasion... because there were no limber holes, and the end grain of the bracket was not glassed over. 3)The head sails are large. We used a #2 heavy much of the time. I had a reef point put in it(it has hanks). The main sail is so small that reefing it does reduce sail by much. 4) We changed from rod rigging to SS wire.

Galley is EXCELLENT. Though the ice box needs more insullation if cruising in warm water.

Our boat has never had a single blister inspite of being immersed in warm water for long periods.
