Owner's Review for the 1984 C&C 37

Great boat, but had a severe weather helm and tough to control under 'chute with moderate wind. Changed out the rudder, from original 40" depth x 30" chord to 50" depth x 26" chord. Very big difference - boat is VERY controllable now, and much lighter helm. Probably not an issue on standard 6.6' draft boats as their rudder is 54x24.

Have slowly been putting it into PHRF racing form. If we really get into it, will definitely need to move traveller into cockpit. Today you need to put best crew person on traveller in heavy wind and coach them through alternately dumping and resetting the main. Like any other aspiring PHRF racer, I'm learning to whine about my rating.

Simply love cruising in the boat with family (3 kids). The cockpit is large enough for everyone to comfortably settle in, even in the roughest weather, and the open layout below is much more comfortable in the hot weather typical to the Chesapeake than many other boats its size.
