Owner's Review for the 1983 C&C 37

The C&C 37 is a fast,powerful,cruiser/racer. She is very well engineered and is very spacious down below. There are two possible weaknesses depending on your style of use. She is deep drafted (unless you have the K/CB model) and she is slightly under powered (Yanmar 27 h.p.) She has a large, deep, comfortable cockpit. All in all, I think I'll keep her for a long time.

Subsequent to owners comments about the 37 being underpowered with a Yanmar 27 (naturally, since we all want more power with more weight), I have recently re-powered mine with a Yanmar 3JH2 (35HP). I am very pleased with the results. With a two bladed folding propeller, I can do a very comfortable 6 kts at 2400 rpm. When I need more speed, I can do 6.8 at 3300 rpm. A 15 kt. headwind will reduce speed but only by .2 kts. The generous rocker in the hull keeps the foredeck pretty dry and keeps the form remarkably efficient into the swells.

While not a stellar design for racing, what with the cabin top traveller and halyards at the mast, mine has become a wonderful cruiser. Few boats get past her though, particularly in 15 kts. of breeze.
