Owner's Review for the 1987 C&C 29

Summary: A really solid boat good on lakes in 30+ kt winds but I think not good for serious blue water. High aspect ratio main puts all the driving power on the Genoa a larger mainsail area would be good. Key Features of "Corker" Fully automated for cruising Autohelm ST50 systems - Speed; Depth; Wind; Steering Compass; ST4000 Autopilot + Differential Garmin GPSMAP 175. Garhauer solid Boomvang Rigged for PHRF racing. Sometimes awkward to run cabling for auxilliary systems. Strengths: sails great heels early but reputation for being overly tender is unwarranted. Weaknesses: Rudder post is diificult to lubricate - I installed a grease nipple and a long pipe to the gun that minimizes the need to crawl under the fuel pipe and getting down to the engine is a pain. The other shortcoming is the table down below - it takes too much room and would be better with a modified folding rig - I am working on a design for this. Overall satisfaction: Very happy - the only problem for me is that to get a significantly mo re roomy boat you need to go to a 34 or 35 AND spend a lot of money. This boat (if looked after)is incredible value at anything below $35K
